About the Arist

I was raised in Delaware and spent 30 years in South Florida before moving to Mooresville, NC in 2006. I am basically a self-taught artist. I started painting about 25 years ago after injuring myself while playing basketball. I was required to stay off my feet unless using crutches. Because I would not stay off my feet my wife took away my crutches. Confined to sitting, I started watching Bill Alexander paint his happy little mountains on Public Television using his wet on wet technique. I quickly found I had a natural touch and was encouraged when friends and family started asking for my paintings. However, due to demands of my career as a corporate executive of national staffing services and family, painting was put aside until I retired in 2006. Throughout 2007 I focused primarily on oil paintings on subjects such as wild animals, birds, friend's pets, floral arrangements and landscapes. In April my Leo's Bad Hair Day painting won a Gold Medal in the Silver Arts competition for Iredell County, NC. I also became very active in the Mooresville Artist Guild where I have made many new artist friends who have shared with me various techniques to help me grow as an artist. This year I have expanded into watercolor painting and doing a lot of pen and ink sketches. From a personal standpoint, I have been fortunate to be married to a great wife, Steffi for over 40 years. Togther we have two children, Scott who passed away in 1993 and our daughter Tammy. Tammy and her husband Derke have given us three of the most beautiful granddaughters who bring us nothing but joy. Life is GOOD.
